Guardiola aims to keep pressure on Arsenal as Man City target Brentford win

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has addressed the media ahead of their Premier League clash with Brentford, as his side look to respond to a setback in the title race.
City dropped points against Everton earlier this week, a result that handed Arsenal a significant advantage at the top of the table, with the Gunners now five points clear.
Guardiola’s team remain unbeaten in their last 15 Premier League matches at the Etihad Stadium, but the City boss knows they cannot afford any more slip-ups this weekend if they are to stay firmly in contention for the title.
Rodri set for return this weekend?
Manchester City have won six of their nine Premier League meetings with Brentford, including four of the last five, as Pep Guardiola looks to steer his side back to winning form. Attention has also turned to the potential return of Rodri, who has missed City’s last three matches in all competitions due to a groin injury.
“We will see this afternoon. We have survived without him for many months. He doesn’t feel completely comfortable. We do not depend on Rodri not being there,” Guardiola said.
Guardiola hopeful over Gvardiol future
The City boss also provided an update on Josko Gvardiol, praising the defender’s return to fitness and expressing his desire for him to remain at the club beyond the summer.
“He is training. It has been many months. He has been an important player for us. Glad he is back and will make a good World Cup. Next season, we can have him at his best. He plays so fast, so quick, like Ruben as well,” Guardiola said.
“I have no info (on his contract). I would love Gvardiol to stay here.”
City can still apply pressure on Arsenal, insists Guardiola ahead of Brentford clash
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has insisted his side can still put pressure on Arsenal in the Premier League title race as they prepare to face Brentford.
City were held to a frustrating 3-3 draw against Everton earlier this week, a result that allowed Arsenal to extend their advantage at the top of the table to five points.
Guardiola’s team remain unbeaten in their last 15 Premier League matches at the Etihad Stadium, but the City boss knows there is little margin for error if they are to stay in the title hunt.
The Spanish coach also reflected on Everton’s opening goal, which came after a costly mistake in midfield, but stressed that such errors are part of the game and insisted his focus remains on the future.
