Griffin Claims Third PGA Tour Victory of the Year at World Wide Technology Championship

World number 12 Ben Griffin carded a scintillating nine-under-par 63 on Sunday to capture the World Wide Technology Championship by two strokes, marking his third PGA Tour victory of the season.
The 29-year-old American fired 10 birdies against a single bogey to finish a tournament-record 29-under 259 over 72 holes at El Cardonal in Los Cabos, Mexico.
“Got off to a great start, making some birdies. I feel like I’ve done that a lot in final rounds when I’ve had a chance to win, so that was nice,” Griffin said. “I pushed myself a little harder than I have the past few weeks when I was in contention to keep the pedal down, and the putter helped me out—I made a lot of putts on the back nine.”
Finland’s Sami Valimaki shot 64 to tie American Chad Ramey for second at 261, with South African Garrick Higgo and American Trevor Cone another stroke back.
With this victory, Griffin joins top-ranked Scottie Scheffler and world number two Rory McIlroy as the only players to claim three PGA Tour titles this year. He also became just the seventh player since 1983 to win his first three PGA Tour events in a single season, the first since Scheffler accomplished the feat in 2022.
Griffin, a member of this year’s U.S. Ryder Cup team, previously captured the Pairs Event at New Orleans with Andrew Novak in April and the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial in May. He was also runner-up at the Memorial in June and the Procore Championship in September, a Ryder Cup tune-up event.
Starting the final round two strokes behind Higgo, Griffin surged with three birdies in the first four holes before a bogey at the fifth. He then rattled off five consecutive birdies from the eighth through the 12th holes, and a birdie at the par-three 16th lifted him to 28-under, two clear of Valimaki. Both players birdied the par-five 18th, cementing Griffin’s victory and breaking the course record by two strokes.
