GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks edge Floriana Young Stars for First Win of the Season
GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks opened their Hockey Challenge Cup campaign with a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Floriana Young Stars, earning their first win of the season in an entertaining and tightly contested encounter.
As is often the case between these two rivals, the match was evenly balanced throughout, with both sides enjoying periods of dominance. Floriana took an early lead, but Żurrieq responded strongly, scoring three times to turn the match in their favour. Despite a late push from the Greens, who pulled one back near the end, Żurrieq held firm to secure all three points.
Alessandro Amore was the standout performer for the Wolves, scoring twice, while young talent Gary Bonnici added the third. Karl Chircop netted both goals for Floriana.
Match officials were Dario Cacopardo and Keith Calleja.
