Gibbs-White Reveals Tuchel Called to Explain England Omission

Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has revealed that England manager Thomas Tuchel personally reached out to explain his absence from the latest national squad.
The 25-year-old has endured a challenging start to the season, managing just two goals and one assist in 11 appearances for Forest amid the team’s poor run of form.
Despite featuring in all of Tuchel’s squads since the German took charge earlier this year, Gibbs-White was left out of the most recent selection. Speaking after Forest’s Europa League fixture, he shared details of the conversation that followed.
“He (Tuchel) had a conversation with me after the Europa League game,” Gibbs-White said.
“He told me to never take penalties again! He’s a really honest guy, and the fact that he called me to tell me I wasn’t in the squad — I really appreciated that.”
“All I can do is focus on myself and my team here,” he said. “I just need to get my performances right to put myself in a good position to be called up again. That’s all I can do.”
