Għaxaq Wolves and Senglea Gunners reach MAFA Knock-Out Final

Għaxaq Wolves and Senglea Gunners have secured their places in the MAFA Knock-Out final after winning their respective semi-final encounters.
Defending champions Għaxaq Wolves overcame Valletta St Paul’s 3-1 in a closely contested match.
The Wolves took the lead in the 28th minute through Alan Fernando Goncalves Cloth before Diego Fernando Pereira doubled their advantage. Luka Asanidze reduced the deficit for Valletta St Paul’s, but Diego Fernando Pereira netted his second goal of the match to seal victory for the Wolves.
The match was officiated by referee Lorry Sammut.
Senglea Gunners, meanwhile, enjoyed a more comfortable passage to the final as they defeated Ħamrun Sporting 4-0.
As the scoreline suggests, the Cottonera side dominated proceedings throughout the match. Seedy Fofana opened the scoring, while Isaac Kwesi Dankwah and Christopher Philip Balotelli added further goals before Fofana completed his brace to round off an impressive performance.
The match referee was Raymond Tabone.
The final between Għaxaq Wolves and Senglea Gunners will be played next Saturday at 4:30pm at the Marsaxlokk Ground. The fixture is a repeat of the final held a few months ago during the MAFA 70th Anniversary celebrations, when the Senglea side emerged victorious after a penalty shoot-out.
