The Women’s Beach Soccer League, organised by the Malta Beach Soccer Association, got underway last week with four matches that provided plenty of goals and entertainment at Pretty Bay, Birżebbuġa.

On the opening matchday, Birkirkara recorded a 6-4 victory over Skill and Passion in an entertaining encounter that produced ten goals. Having found themselves trailing at one stage, the Stripes managed to overturn the deficit and secure all three points from the match.

Meanwhile, the contest between Parr Mela Rockets and Ballun FC remained finely balanced throughout. The teams were level at 4-4 at the end of regular time, while extra time also failed to separate them as the score stood at 5-5. The match therefore had to be decided by penalties, with Ballun FC holding their nerve to register a 3-2 shootout victory.

The second round of fixtures saw Sliema produce an impressive performance against Birkirkara, emerging as 4-2 winners. The Slimiżi controlled key periods of the game and demonstrated their credentials as potential title challengers.

Parr Mela Rockets also returned to winning ways with a convincing 7-2 victory over Skill and Passion.

The league continues on Tuesday, 9 June, at 6:00pm when Ballun FC face Sliema. On Thursday, Skill and Passion take on Ballun FC at 6:00pm, while at 7:15pm Sliema will meet Parr Mela Rockets in what is expected to be one of the most intriguing fixtures of this stage of the competition.
