Ajax and Kasper Dolberg are reportedly in talks with Danish Superliga club FC Midtjylland over a potential return to Denmark for the striker.

Dolberg, 28, rejoined Ajax from Anderlecht last season on a four-year deal in a transfer worth up to €10 million. However, his first campaign back in Amsterdam since 2019 proved difficult, with the forward managing just eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions, including three in 22 league matches.

His form dipped further in the second half of the season, during which he scored only twice. Dolberg’s most recent goal for Ajax came on January 28 in the UEFA Champions League against Olympiakos.

With Ajax technical director Jordi Cruyff aiming to reshape the squad, Kasper Dolberg is expected to be among those who could depart, as he is reportedly not seen as fitting the club’s pressing requirements.

According to De Telegraaf, Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland are in talks with both Ajax and the player over a potential transfer. Midtjylland, who finished second in Denmark behind AGF Aarhus, are hoping to bring Dolberg back to his home country, where he last played in 2016 with Silkeborg.

Despite the speculation, Dolberg remains under contract at Ajax until 2029 and is valued at approximately €6.8 million.
