Manchester City midfielder Rodri launched a furious attack on referees after their Premier League title hopes suffered another blow in a 2-2 draw at Tottenham.

City had been cruising at 2-0 on Sunday in north London, only for Spurs to fight back following a controversial goal by Dominic Solanke. The goal stood despite replays showing Solanke appearing to foul Marc Guehi before making contact with the ball. Solanke later scored a stunning scorpion kick to complete the comeback, leaving City six points behind league leaders Arsenal.

“I know we win too much, and the people don’t want us to win, but the referee has to be neutral, and honestly, for me, it’s not fair,” Rodri told Australian broadcaster Stan Sport.

“At the end, when everything is finished, we are frustrated because it’s so clear the foul. He kicked the leg, and with the push of the action on the ball, the ball goes in.

“We have to pay attention to these little things, otherwise it’s going to be difficult for everyone because this league is like this—it’s about small details, and everything counts. Today has been a very tough day for us in this sense.”

The decision adds to a string of calls that City feel have gone against them in recent weeks. Pep Guardiola has previously suggested that much of the club’s success during his tenure has come “despite” officials’ decisions.

Rodri added: “He anticipated the leg of Marc, and it’s a clear foul, but it’s not just today. It’s two or three games in a row, and I don’t know why, honestly.”
