Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar hospitalised due to heart complications

Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar has been hospitalised after suffering cardiac complications during pre-season medical tests, his club São Paulo confirmed on Tuesday.
The Brazilian side said that as players began preparations for the 2026 campaign, Oscar “presented a complication with cardiac changes” during routine examinations.
The 34-year-old was immediately assisted by São Paulo’s medical staff along with specialists from Einstein Hospital Israelita, who were present at the training facility.
“The player was then taken to the hospital, where he is clinically stable and remains under observation for further tests to clarify the diagnosis,” the club said in an official statement.
“In accordance with standard procedures and respecting the player’s privacy, new information will be released as soon as there is an update from the medical team, in agreement with Oscar.”
Oscar, a two-time Premier League winner with Chelsea, made his name in England before moving to Shanghai Port, where he became one of the highest-paid footballers in the world and won the Chinese Super League twice.
He returned to his boyhood club São Paulo in December last year, signing a three-year contract as part of his long-awaited comeback to Brazilian football.
