Flemming scores late equaliser as Burnley F.C. earn point against 10-man Chelsea F.C.

Burnley F.C. salvaged a dramatic 1-1 draw at Chelsea F.C., thanks to a 93rd-minute equaliser from Zian Flemming, as the Blues dropped points from a winning position for the second consecutive Premier League match.
Burnley’s initial plan at Stamford Bridge was simple: stay compact and frustrate Chelsea as long as possible. That strategy was undone just four minutes in, when Pedro Neto broke behind the defence and squared for João Pedro, who bundled the ball over the line from close range.
Chelsea dominated possession early on, with only a last-ditch block from Kyle Walker denying Cole Palmer a chance to double the lead. Midway through the first half, the Blues showed signs of complacency, but Burnley were unable to capitalise, with their best opportunity coming from a wasted free-kick by Marcus Edwards.
Palmer had another clear chance shortly after, breaking free on goal, but his shot was comfortably saved by Martin Dúbravka. Even as Burnley struggled to threaten, Chelsea failed to put the game beyond their visitors. Neto’s blocked effort late in the first half was a warning that Burnley still posed a danger.
Chelsea’s troubles deepened 20 minutes from time. Wesley Fofana, already on a yellow card, received a second booking for a late challenge on James Ward-Prowse, reducing the Blues to ten men.
Scott Parker’s attacking substitutions gave Burnley the platform to exploit the numerical advantage, and they did just that in stoppage time. Flemming ghosted into the box to head home Ward-Prowse’s delivery, sending Burnley’s 2,000-strong travelling supporters back to Lancashire with a point.
While the draw does little for Burnley’s survival hopes in the Premier League, it could prove costly for Chelsea, who now risk finishing the weekend outside the top-four UEFA Champions League positions.
