Fiorentina rout Jagiellonia, edge closer to Conference League next round

Fiorentina secured back-to-back wins for the first time this season, taking control of their UEFA Conference League play-off tie with Jagiellonia Bialystok with a 3-0 first-leg victory in Poland.
La Viola faced challenging conditions in Bialystok, missing several key players and contending with freezing temperatures and a tricky pitch. Jagiellonia came close to an early breakthrough after 10 minutes when Niccolo Fortini failed to clear a cross, with his second effort deflecting off Kamil Jozwiak and narrowly missing the goal.
Despite dominating possession before halftime, Jagiellonia could not test Luca Lezzerini, making his first European appearance in 10 years in place of the injured David de Gea. The first shot on target came only in the 39th minute, when Giovanni Fabbian volleyed straight at Slawomir Abramowicz. Fabbian tested the goalkeeper again with a half-volley in stoppage time, forcing a superb save, while Robin Gosens headed wide from the corner.
Fiorentina finally broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute. Jacopo Fazzini swung a cross to the far post, where captain Luca Ranieri squeezed a header past Abramowicz from a tight angle for his third goal of the season.
The game came alive after that, with Fortini denied by Abramowicz on a clear chance, Alejandro Pozo’s goal ruled out for offside, and Bartlomiej Wdowik hitting the post from a free-kick as Jagiellonia pressed for an equaliser.
Fiorentina restored control with a moment of quality in the 66th minute, as Rolando Mandragora curled a free-kick into the top corner from 20 yards for his seventh goal of the season.
Roberto Piccoli wrapped up the win nine minutes from time, converting a penalty after being fouled by Dawid Drachal to take his campaign tally to six.
Jagiellonia pushed for a late consolation but could not break down Fiorentina, who claimed their fourth consecutive victory on Polish soil. La Viola have now won three of their five away matches across all competitions in 2026 (D1, L1), while Jagiellonia suffered just their third defeat in 10 competitive home matches (W7).
