Fiorentina Part Ways with Stefano Pioli After a Nightmare Start to the Season

Fiorentina have parted ways with head coach Stefano Pioli following a 2–1 defeat to Lecce that left the club rooted to the bottom of the Serie A table. The Viola have yet to record a win this season, collecting just four points from their opening fixtures, scoring seven goals and conceding 16.
Youth coach Daniele Galloppa has been appointed as interim manager, with Fiorentina expected to begin their search for a permanent replacement immediately in an effort to steer clear of a relegation battle.
“ACF Fiorentina can confirm that Stefano Pioli has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team,” the club announced in a statement. “The club would like to thank him and his staff for the professionalism shown during their time at Fiorentina.”
“Daniele Galloppa will take charge of the first team temporarily, starting from this afternoon’s training session,” the statement continued.
Pioli, who famously led AC Milan to the Serie A title in 2021/22, has seen his managerial fortunes decline sharply in recent years. His subsequent stint at Saudi club Al-Nassr, where Cristiano Ronaldo played, brought limited success before he returned to Italy.
His spell in Florence, however, has proven to be an even greater disappointment—one that now ends prematurely as Fiorentina look to salvage their season.
