Thierno Barry continued his excellent run of form with his fourth goal in five Premier League matches as Everton fought back from a halftime deficit to earn a 1-1 draw against Leeds, leaving the visitors still searching for a league win on the road since September.

Everton’s thrilling victory over title-chasing Aston Villa last weekend had pushed them into contention for European spots, but performances at their new home remain inconsistent.

Leeds had the first real chance of the game when former Toffee Dominic Calvert-Lewin met Brenden Aaronson’s delivery, only for Jordan Pickford to charge out and block the effort.

The visitors maintained control through energetic pressing and quick, dynamic attacks, and were rewarded in the 30th minute. Anton Stach’s low cross was missed at the near post by Calvert-Lewin but found James Justin, who smashed in his first goal for Leeds. Calvert-Lewin came close again before halftime, rattling the post as he sought a dream goal on his return to Merseyside.

Everton responded in the second half following a tactical tweak, showing greater intensity. Barry tested Karl Darlow with an audacious outside-of-the-boot strike, which the Leeds goalkeeper brilliantly kept out.

Moments later, Barry found the net, converting Idrissa Gueye’s low delivery into the roof of the net to continue his sparkling form. Everton came close to taking all three points when Gueye’s strike from the edge of the area clanged off the bar, but time ran out without a winner.

The point will feel earned for Everton, given a sluggish first-half display, but it leaves them winless in their last five matches at home. With six draws in nine league outings, Daniel Farke knows his side must find a way to convert points into victories if they are to climb the table. Their lead over the relegation zone has now been reduced to six points following this stalemate.
