Genk also went the distance midweek, edging past Dinamo Zagreb in a six-goal thriller. The Belgian side will meet Freiburg next. An all-Italian showdown will see Bologna take on Roma.

Third-seeded FC Midtjylland face Nottingham Forest, after scraping past Fenerbahce, with Callum Hudson-Odoi stepping up at the City Ground in the second leg. Meanwhile, Real Betis will play Panathinaikos, who advanced on penalties despite being reduced to 10 men late in extra time.

Hungary’s Ferencvaros travel to the Iberian Peninsula to face Braga.
