England Forward Rashford Eyes Permanent Move to Barcelona Following Loan Spell

Barcelona forward Marcus Rashford has expressed his desire to remain at the Spanish club beyond his current loan from Manchester United, describing the move as the fresh start he needed after spending his entire career in England.
This season-long loan sees Barcelona covering Rashford’s wages after the Manchester-born striker agreed to a pay cut, with an option to buy reportedly set at around €30 million ($35 million).
Although Rashford’s contract with Manchester United runs until 2028, his future at Old Trafford looks uncertain following a fallout with manager Ruben Amorim last year. Under Barcelona coach Hansi Flick, however, the 27-year-old has quickly regained his form.
“For sure,” Rashford told ESPN when asked if he wanted to stay at Barcelona. “I’m enjoying this football club, and for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player, it is an honour.”
The England international, who first revitalized his career during a brief loan at Aston Villa last season, has taken his resurgence further in Spain, recording five goals and six assists in 12 appearances across all competitions.
Ahead of what would be his first El Clasico on Sunday, Rashford said the move abroad has given him a new perspective.
“People forget this, but 23 years of my life was with Manchester United. Sometimes you just need a change. I think maybe this is the case with me, and I’m enjoying everything,” he added.
