Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca lauded Estevão for his influential cameo as the young winger helped inspire a 3-0 Premier League victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

Malo Gusto gave Chelsea the lead with a header in the 51st minute, but the game remained finely poised until the 18-year-old Estevão was introduced just after the hour mark.

Almost immediately, Estevão made his presence felt, providing the assist for fellow Brazilian Joao Pedro to double Chelsea’s advantage, further solidifying the win.

“I was very worried before this game. These are tricky matches; everyone thinks it’s going to be easy,” Maresca told reporters. “I understand people weren’t happy in the first half because we didn’t score. Then Estevão came on, and the energy lifted—he’s that kind of player.

“You can see his talent. We’re helping him adapt, giving him the right minutes. He arrived from Brazil and needs time to adjust, but he will start games for us in the future.”

Maresca also praised Alejandro Garnacho, whose tireless work rate and two assists were key to the win. The Argentine international joined Chelsea from Manchester United in August for a reported £40 million ($53.68 million).

“He came from a club where he wasn’t training fully, so his physical condition wasn’t optimal,” Maresca said. “He’s improving steadily. To play for us, he needs to be strong on and off the ball, and we’re very happy with him.”

The victory temporarily lifts Chelsea to second in the Premier League, a point above Manchester City, who have a game in hand before facing Liverpool later on Sunday. Chelsea will next travel to Burnley in a league fixture on November 22, following the international break.
