Defending champions Gżira United suffered a 6–3 defeat to MFPA on the opening day of the Veterans Malta FA Premier League. Despite MFPA leading for most of the encounter, Gżira repeatedly struck back, keeping the match finely balanced before eventually conceding in the closing stages.

Jonathan Bondin led the way for the Malta Football Players Association with a superb hat-trick, while Julian Galea, Stephen Wellman, and Manuel Sevasta also found the net. Gżira United replied through a hat-trick from Kevin Sammut. The match was officiated by Lorry Sammut.

In another thrilling contest, Hibernians made a strong start to their campaign with a 6–5 victory over Floriana. Both defences struggled, but Hibernians ultimately held on to secure an important opening win. Johnny Camilleri scored twice for the Paolites, with Daniel Fodermayer, Glanville Goodlip, Steven Bonnici, and Clayton Micallef adding the remaining goals. For Floriana, Manolito Micallef delivered an impressive four-goal performance, while Dylan Grima also scored. Jonathan Balzan was the referee.

Luxol St Andrew’s recorded a 2–1 win over Rabat Veterans, courtesy of goals from Glenn Bonello and Tyron Borg. Robert Perkins scored Rabat’s lone goal. Jonathan Balzan officiated the match.

Żurrieq Wolves made a strong start to their season as well, clinching a 3–2 win against Birkirkara St Helen’s. John Clarence Conger Thompson struck twice, with Bjorn Bondin adding a third. Ayrton Duncan and Federico Tejada Marine replied for Birkirkara. Lorry Sammut refereed the match.
