Hurting Bulls Target Connacht Response After Ulster Defeat

South Africa’s Bulls are determined to bounce back from their 28-7 United Rugby Championship loss to Ulster when they face Irish side Connacht on Friday.

The Belfast defeat — their first of the season — exposed defensive frailties, with the Bulls conceding 99 points in their opening three matches. The performance even drew criticism from union president Willem Strauss.

“We’re hurting from last week, but there’s a big desire to bounce back,” captain Reinhardt Ludwig said. “Connacht will be a massive test of character for us. Our defence isn’t where it needs to be, but we know why and we’ll fix it.”

Ludwig leads the side this week with Johan Grobbelaar dropping to the bench. Coach Johan Ackermann has made 11 changes, with Keagan Johannes replacing [flyhalf’s name], who has returned home for the birth of his child.
