Brentford pile on the misery as Wolves suffer 11th loss in a row

Wolves became just the fourth team in Premier League history to suffer 10 or more consecutive defeats in a single season after a 2–0 home loss to Brentford, a result that also brought an end to the Bees’ five-match away losing streak.
Although Wolves showed signs of improvement in last weekend’s narrow 2–1 defeat to Arsenal, they entered this contest still searching for confidence, much like their visitors, who had lost three of their previous four matches in all competitions.
The lack of belief on both sides was evident in a drab first half, with supporters forced to wait until the 39th minute for the game’s first shot on target. That chance fell to Brentford’s Keane Lewis-Potter, who recovered possession after his initial pass was intercepted before seeing his left-footed effort pushed away by José Sá, making his first Premier League appearance since September.
Sá was called into action again early in the second half, reacting sharply to deny Kevin Schade’s powerful header. Moments later, the Wolves goalkeeper produced another unorthodox save to keep out Schade’s low volley as Brentford began to assert their dominance.
The visitors’ pressure eventually told just after the hour mark. Ladislav Krejci misjudged Vitaly Janelt’s clipped ball into the box, allowing it to bounce over him and into the path of Lewis-Potter, who calmly drove the ball past Sá to give Brentford a deserved lead.
Lewis-Potter wasn’t finished there. In the 83rd minute, he doubled Brentford’s advantage by combining neatly with Mikkel Damsgaard, stretching to meet the return cross and guide it home for his second goal of the afternoon.
Wolves’ miserable evening was compounded late on when Jørgen Strand Larsen’s weak penalty was saved by Caoimhín Kelleher, who atoned for conceding the spot-kick after fouling Matt Doherty.
The defeat leaves Rob Edwards’ side rooted to the bottom of the table with just two points, with only two matches remaining before the halfway stage of the 2025/26 season. Brentford, meanwhile, climb to 13th in the Premier League standings.
