Bank of Valletta and the Royal Malta Yacht Club officially launched the 2025 BOV Gozo Regatta during the Skipper’s Briefing held at the RMYC clubhouse in Ta’ Xbiex.

The highly anticipated annual event, traditionally the first major race following the Rolex Middle Sea Race, will take place between 7th and 9th November 2025.

This year’s regatta will begin on Friday, 7th November, with a passage race from Marsamxett Harbour to Mġarr, Gozo. Racing will continue on Saturday with a series of round-the-cans courses in the Gozo–Comino Channel, before concluding on Sunday with the return leg to Marsamxett.

A record 24 boats have registered for this year’s edition, which will once again blend competitive sailing with the traditional social side of the event — including a crew dinner and the Prize-Giving Ceremony at the Royal Malta Yacht Club on Sunday evening.

The BOV Gozo Regatta continues to be a celebration of sportsmanship, skill, and community, bringing together Malta’s sailing enthusiasts while showcasing the natural beauty of the islands’ coastal waters.

Supported by Bank of Valletta, the regatta forms part of the bank’s ongoing commitment to promoting sport, sustainability, and community engagement.

During the Skipper’s Briefing, participants were updated on race logistics, safety measures, and sustainability objectives.

Stefan Abela, CSR Manager at Bank of Valletta, emphasised the importance of the event:

“The BOV Gozo Regatta is more than a sporting competition – it’s a celebration of teamwork, passion, and Malta’s deep connection with the sea. We’re proud to support an event that promotes healthy living, inclusion, and excellence.”

RMYC Commodore Mark Napier expressed his enthusiasm for the strong turnout, saying:

“It’s fantastic to see such a large and diverse fleet taking part. The BOV Gozo Regatta remains one of the most popular fixtures on the sailing calendar, reflecting the growing passion for the sport and the inclusive spirit of our Club.”

The regatta will be held under the World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing (2025–2028), IRC regulations, and RMYC class rules, with a strong emphasis on safety, fairness, and sportsmanship.

Bank of Valletta and the Royal Malta Yacht Club invite the public to follow the races and support the participating teams as they set sail in pursuit of victory and maritime excellence.
