Real Betis extended their winless LaLiga streak to four games, but they fought back after falling behind at the Estadio La Cartuja to secure a deserved and vital 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo.

The visitors struck early, just four minutes in, when Ferran Jutglà unleashed a low strike from outside the area. Álvaro Vallés managed to get a hand to the effort, but it still rolled over the line to put Celta ahead.

Celta Vigo’s attacking setup kept Real Betis pinned back, with Pablo Durán and Ferran Jutglà both firing efforts wide or straight at Álvaro Vallés.

The hosts’ best chance to equalise before halftime came when Cucho Hernández’s shot was blocked, prompting growing frustration among the home supporters as whistles rang out from the stands.

Although both sides attempted expansive football, a string of misplaced passes and mistimed tackles made the first half largely scrappy. Even so, the visitors were often the more assertive team, with Marcos Alonso and Óscar Mingueza leading the charge.

Abde Ezzalzouli squandered two excellent opportunities for Betis, including a header that went straight to Ionuț Radu. Meanwhile, Aitor Ruibal and Marc Bartra also came close as Betis began to show attacking intent.

Just four minutes into the second half, a brilliant through ball from Ruibal found Héctor Bellerín, who calmly lifted the ball over Radu to score his first-ever LaLiga goal for the Verdiblancos, earning Betis a crucial equaliser.

The equaliser completely shifted the momentum, as Real Betis surged forward whenever possible, with both Héctor Bellerín and Junior Firpo making threatening runs down the flanks.

Celta Vigo responded to the potential onslaught with a triple substitution around the hour mark, while Ferran Jutglà had to be helped off following a clash of heads.

As the match entered its closing stages, it developed into an end-to-end contest, with both teams eager to snatch a late winner.

Borja Iglesias looked set to give the visitors the lead with eight minutes remaining, only to be ruled offside, before Aitor Ruibal went the other way and saw Ionuț Radu make a full-length save to keep the score level.

The draw leaves Real Betis in fifth place in the Spanish top flight, three points ahead of Celta Vigo in sixth, with both sides continuing to chase points to secure European football next season.
