Bayern Munich set to miss Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich as Bundesliga action resumes

Bayern Munich will be without key players Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala for their Bundesliga return, though goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is set to feature, coach Vincent Kompany confirmed on Saturday.
The Bavarians, who remain unbeaten in the league this season, will also be missing Sacha Boey and Alphonso Davies when they host VfL Wolfsburg following the winter break, as they aim to extend their eight-point lead at the top of the table.
Musiala, sidelined since sustaining a fibula fracture and broken ankle during last July’s Club World Cup, is close to returning but will not be available for Sunday’s match.
“He will not be available yet for this game,” Kompany said at a press conference. “We are close, but we don’t want to take the last step too quickly. This week was good for him. He did full training sessions.”
Bayern sit atop the Bundesliga with 41 points, eight clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund, who were held to a 3-3 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday. A win on Sunday would further extend their lead.
“I want to see our strengths, no matter the opponent,” Kompany added. “I want to see us at home being Bayern Munich and, even against tough opponents, play our game.”
Historically, Bayern have dominated Wolfsburg at home, winning 26 of their 28 league encounters in Munich, with just two draws.
