Bayern Munich face a battle to keep Harry Kane from moving to Barcelona next season.

Xavier Vilajoana, a presidential candidate at Barcelona, has already opened talks over a potential transfer should he win next month’s election. Vilajoana, one of four confirmed candidates, has promised to pursue Kane if he assumes control at Camp Nou.

The 32-year-old England international has scored 41 goals for Bayern this season, cementing his status as one of the world’s most prolific forwards. Barcelona are expected to part ways with Robert Lewandowski when his contract expires, with an MLS move to Chicago Fire FC likely. Kane could be the natural replacement to spearhead Barca’s attack.

Speaking to ESPN, Vilajoana said: “What we’re missing is a striker — a centre-forward capable of linking up play, but also a killer in the box… There is one. In fact, we’ve already made some contact, and I think he’s a player who would be a great fit, pending his contractual situation: it’s Harry Kane.”

Bayern have already fended off lucrative interest from Saudi Arabia, which Kane declined, but a move to Barcelona would present a far more compelling challenge. Kane remains ambitious in the latter stages of his career and is focused on adding trophies, making Spain an attractive prospect.

Bayern’s priority is to secure Kane’s future with a contract extension before the end of the season. His current deal runs until 2027, and negotiations have been ongoing. However, Barcelona may be the only club capable of swaying him.

Financial incentives have never been Kane’s primary motivator, as evidenced by his rejection of the Saudi offer. Instead, joining a club of Barcelona’s stature would provide new opportunities and a chance to compete for more silverware.

For now, Bayern continue to pursue their treble ambitions and hope to retain Kane. But as the season progresses, the striker’s future is expected to dominate transfer discussions.
