League leaders Balzan re-established a three-point cushion at the summit of the BOV Challenge League following a commanding 4–1 victory over Marsa at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday, 15th February 2026.
Awosanya Hat-Trick Sinks Marsa
Balzan’s intent was clear from the outset, with James Scicluna opening the scoring in the 24th minute. The spotlight, however, belonged to Oluwatobiloba Dimeji Awosanya, who doubled the lead from the penalty spot just before half-time (42′).
Awosanya struck again in the 64th minute to make it 3–0. Although Neil Demanuele managed to pull one back for Marsa in the 71st minute, Awosanya completed his hat-trick in the 79th minute to ensure Balzan moved to 35 points, three ahead of Melita.
Sirens Dominate Mtarfa with Eight-Goal Blitz
In a one-sided affair at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Sirens delivered the most emphatic result of the weekend, crushing Mtarfa 8–0. Trezeguet Zammit was the star of the show, netting four goals (14′, 32′, 48′, 56′).
Thiago Nonato contributed a brace (16′, 54′), while an own goal in the 50th minute and a late strike from Joel Quist (80′) rounded off the scoring. The result solidifies Sirens’ position in the Top 8 as they head into the next phase.
Swieqi United Edge Fgura in Comeback Win
At the Centenary Stadium, Swieqi United displayed great resilience to secure a 2–1 win over Fgura United. Fgura took an early lead through Timilehin Caleb Akande in the 8th minute, holding that advantage for over an hour. However, Swieqi turned the game on its head in a frantic four-minute spell; Zak Barbara equalised in the 69th minute before Kian Leonardi netted the winner in the 73rd.
