Balzan and Pisani strike gold at MTFSA Knock Out and Category Competitions

The La Vallette Band Club in Valletta played host to a weekend of top-tier table football action as the Malta Table Football Sports Association (MTFSA) held its Knock Out and Category competitions.
Open Category: Balzan Edges Zammit
In the highly anticipated Open category, Jurgen Balzan emerged as the champion after a hard-fought final against John Zammit. Balzan secured the title with a narrow 1-0 victory, demonstrating defensive resilience under pressure. The path to the final was no easy feat, with seasoned competitors Mark Gauci and Jason Pisani both reaching the semi-final stage before bowing out.
Veteran Category: Pisani Wins on Goal Difference
The Veteran category provided a different kind of drama, contested in a league format. Jason Pisani claimed the top spot, though it came down to the wire. Pisani managed to beat out Aquilina for the title, with the winner decided by goal difference after a closely contested series of matches.
World Cup Bound
The stakes for this weekend’s competition were incredibly high. By clinching their respective titles, both Jurgen Balzan and Jason Pisani have officially earned the right to represent Malta at the FISTF World Cup, set to take place in France this coming September.
The ongoing international success and travel opportunities for Maltese table football athletes continue to be supported by SportMalta, ensuring the local game maintains its strong reputation on the world stage.
