Attard, Castaldi and Mangion shine in intense Blackball finals
Johan Attard continued his impressive form by winning the first qualifying tournament for the 2026 Nations Cup after defeating Miguel Amato 10-7 in the men’s final.
Attard, who recently retained his title as Malta champion, established a 5-1 lead early on and remained in control throughout to secure victory.
In the Under-23 category, Chaylon Castaldi emerged victorious over Steven Muscat with a 9-5 scoreline, while Stephen Mangion won the seniors’ category after defeating Jesmond Schembri 10-7 in the final.
In the coming days and weeks, more qualifying competitions will be held to determine additional players for the Malta national team that will compete in the 2026 Nations Cup.
