Atletico penalized over fans’ alleged racist conduct during Arsenal Champions League match

UEFA has fined Atletico Madrid €30,000 ($34,749) and issued a suspended one-match ban for travelling fans following “racist and discriminatory” behavior by some supporters during last month’s 4-0 Champions League defeat to Arsenal.
The Spanish club was also hit with an additional €10,000 fine after certain fans threw objects during the match at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
The suspended ban, which would prevent Atletico from selling tickets to away supporters, is set for a one-year probationary period.
Atletico will return to Champions League action against Dutch side PSV Eindhoven on December 10. The Spanish side currently sits 12th in their group with nine points from five games.
