ASA creates big international opportunities for Malta Club swimmers

The Aquatic Sports Association of Malta (ASA) is helping local club athletes shine on the world stage. Two talented swimmers have been chosen to compete at the prestigious Artistic Swimming World Cup Stop 4 in Pontevedra, Spain.
Back in January, the ASA set tough qualification rules for the big event. Two club swimmers from the Synchro Knights team, Emily Ruggier and Valentina Marchi, stepped up and hit the high standard needed for the Womenโs Solo Technical race.
A Fair Chance for Both Stars
While neither swimmer hit the official score needed for the Women’s Solo Free race, only one spot was open for each type of event. The ASA saw how hard both girls worked all season. To reward their progress, the group decided to send both swimmers to Spain so they can get valuable international experience.
The events will be split between the two stars:
- Emily Ruggier will compete in the Womenโs Solo Technical event.
- Valentina Marchi will compete in the Womenโs Solo Free event, after getting the highest score among all non-national team swimmers.
Growing the Sport in Malta
This special project shows how the ASA loves to support local club swimmers. By sending them to major worldwide events, the association helps young athletes learn, grow, and make artistic swimming even bigger in Malta. This exciting trip is made possible thanks to financial help from SportMalta.
