European Championship winners Spain will take on Copa America champions Argentina in the ‘Finalissima’ in Qatar next March, UEFA confirmed Thursday.

The showdown between the continental champions was revived in 2021 after UEFA and South American confederation CONMEBOL jointly opposed FIFA’s plans for a biennial World Cup.

Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, dominated Italy 3-0 in the 2022 edition of the contest. The South American side will return to Lusail Stadium—the site where they lifted the World Cup trophy three years ago.

The match is scheduled for March 27, 2026, with kickoff set for 9 p.m. local time.

Spain and Argentina have faced each other 14 times in history, with each side claiming six victories, setting the stage for another closely contested encounter.
