AC Milan’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek to undergo surgery following jaw fracture

AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is set to undergo surgery after sustaining a fractured jaw during Sunday’s Serie A clash with Parma Calcio 1913, according to reports in Italy.
The England international was stretchered off after colliding with Parma goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi while attempting to meet a cross inside the opening 10 minutes at the San Siro. Milan went on to lose the match 1-0.
Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia reported that, in addition to suffering broken upper teeth and two facial lacerations, Loftus-Cheek sustained a fracture to the alveolar bone — an injury described as serious.
The midfielder is expected to undergo surgery on Monday and could be sidelined for several months as he begins his recovery.
Milan had not issued an official statement at the time of reporting.
