Endrick gives first interview as Lyon loanee from Real Madrid

Brazilian striker Endrick addressed the media during his official unveiling as a new Lyon player, expressing excitement and relief after a challenging half-season at Real Madrid under Xabi Alonso.
The 18-year-old, hailing from Taguatinga, appeared composed and confident during his introduction. “When Lyon reached out to me, it was a very important moment for me, my wife, and my family. I wanted to go out and play,” he said.
“I wanted to leave Real Madrid to get playing time. As soon as Lyon contacted me, I accepted right away. I’m very happy. I’m here to help the team,” he added, aware that strong performances in France could earn him significant minutes on the pitch.
Despite the fanfare surrounding his arrival, Endrick emphasized his willingness to integrate fully into the squad. “I’m not here to change the team, just to contribute. I don’t want to be the key player. I’m here at the coach’s disposal,” he explained.
Advice from Ancelotti
Endrick also revealed that he had sought guidance from his former Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti, who plays a role in his hopes of making Brazil’s World Cup squad this year. “I spoke with Carlo Ancelotti. He gave me some guidance on what I could do to improve. It really touched me because I wanted his advice. He said, ‘Go, play and improve your football, be happy.’ That meant a lot to me. I’ve always followed his advice and trained very well with him,” Endrick said.
Ready for the Challenge
Looking ahead, Endrick showed determination to handle expectations and pressure. “You talk about pressure, but let me remind you that I played in Brazil, where the pressure is extremely high. How many views my videos get doesn’t matter. I live my life; what happens on the pitch is just a result. I want to have a great career and focus on football,” he concluded.
With his move to Lyon, Endrick hopes to restart his momentum, earn regular playing time, and continue his rise as one of Brazil’s most exciting young talents.
