Premier League clubs eye Atletico Madrid midfielder Pablo Barrios

Atletico Madrid midfielder Pablo Barrios is drawing significant interest from Premier League clubs.
The 22-year-old has become a crucial part of Diego Simeone’s side, with his game intelligence and ability to control matches making him a standout figure in Atletico’s midfield.
Consistently strong performances in La Liga have cemented his place in the first team, and sources suggest that Premier League scouts have taken notice.
Clubs including Manchester City, Tottenham, and Manchester United are reportedly tracking Barrios. For United and Spurs, their interest could be linked partly to scouting missions focused on Conor Gallagher, who has also been linked with both clubs.
City see Barrios as a player capable of dictating tempo, while Tottenham view him as a technically gifted midfielder, a profile currently lacking in their squad. Manchester United, meanwhile, are seeking long-term options as part of a planned midfield overhaul.
Barrios has a release clause of €120 million, a figure that serves more as a benchmark than a true valuation, keeping Atletico firmly in control of any potential move. A transfer would still require a significant financial commitment.
While Gallagher has made just four La Liga starts this season and may be open to returning to the Premier League, Barrios has started all but two of Atletico’s league fixtures, highlighting the trust Simeone places in him.
Atletico see Barrios as a key asset and have no immediate intention to sell, but his performances have clearly put him on the transfer radar, and interest is expected to continue into 2026.
