Winston Muscat returns to Naxxar Lions as Head Coach
Naxxar Lions FC have officially announced the appointment of Winston Muscat as their new head coach. This follows the club’s mutual agreement to part ways with former coach George Vella on Sunday, after a defeat to Gzira United.
Muscat, who led Hamrun Spartans to the championship last March, returns to Naxxar Lions for a second spell. He previously managed the team for nearly three years between 2011 and 2014.
Naxxar Lions currently face a challenging season, sharing the bottom spot of the league table with Tarxien Rainbows. The team has accumulated six points from thirteen matches, securing one win against Sliema Wanderers and three draws.
Throughout his extensive coaching career, Muscat has managed several Maltese clubs, including:
- St. Patrick
- Vittoriosa Stars
- Naxxar Lions (first spell)
- Pembroke Athleta
- Tarxien Rainbows
- Sirens
- Marsaxlokk
- Hamrun Spartans
His immediate priority will be to lift the Lions from their current precarious league position.
