The local blackball community is deep into one of its most anticipated traditions: the annual Christmas competitions. The Malta Blackball Federation tournaments have reached the semifinal stage, delivering a high level of play and several unexpected results.

Two highly anticipated matches are scheduled between today, Wednesday, December 10, and Tuesday, December 16. Cospicua Rangers will face Ħamrun 147 A in what promises to be a tightly balanced encounter between two consistent teams. Simultaneously, Qormi Pinto A and Mrieħel Billiard House A will clash in a match expected to highlight tactical precision.

Regional Competition Update

The semifinals in the regional competition feature San Ġwann Tiki Taka Spartans, San Ġwann Tiki Taka Boys, Ħamrun 147 B, and Valletta Fossa Boys.

Quarterfinal results were as follows:

• Spartans defeated Ħamrun 147 C (21–13).
• Tiki Taka Boys claimed victory over Selmun Sports Club (23–21).
• Ħamrun 147 B edged past Qormi Pinto B (23–22).
• Valletta Fossa Boys advanced with a bye.

In the first leg of the semifinals already contested, Ħamrun 147 B secured a strong 13–7 win over Valletta Fossa Boys, giving them a significant advantage ahead of the second leg.

Community Tournament Update

In the community tournament, the latest results saw Cospicua Rangers win a tightly contested match against PL Floriana (21–19). San Ġwann Tiki Taka Buddies and 1889 Bar Ħamrun both recorded identical 21–13 victories against Siġġiewi Montekristo and PL Balzan B, respectively. Birkirkara Boċċi also advanced comfortably with a 21–12 win over their club counterparts, Birkirkara Boċċi B.

The semifinals for the Community Christmas Trophy are scheduled between Thursday, December 11, and Monday, December 15, featuring these matchups:

• Cospicua Rangers vs. San Ġwann Tiki Taka Buddies
• 1889 Bar Ħamrun vs. Birkirkara Boċċi
