Hugo Duro’s stoppage-time strike rescued a point for Valencia in a 1-1 draw with Sevilla, extending Los Che’s unbeaten run in LaLiga to four games (W1, D3).

Despite both sides occupying lowly positions in the table, the Mestalla witnessed a lively start. Arnaut Danjuma had the first real chance but held onto the ball too long, allowing his shot to be blocked. Sevilla’s league debutant Oso impressed with his work at both ends, while Akor Adams squandered two well-positioned opportunities, highlighting the visitors’ early dominance.

Valencia, for their part, seemed happy to grind out a scrappy first half, using free-kicks to disrupt Sevilla’s rhythm. However, this tactic also limited their own attacking threat, with Hugo Duro failing to register a single touch in the Sevilla box before halftime. The midfield battle largely stifled the game, with both teams cancelling each other out.

The second half saw Sevilla’s Peque Fernández begin to influence proceedings, while Valencia grew more adventurous going forward. Lucien Agoumé had a chance to break the deadlock, but his effort hit the upper tier, underscoring the poor finishing on display from both sides.

The opener, somewhat ironically, came from a home error. Oso delivered a brilliant whipped cross, only for Cesar Tarrega to inadvertently deflect it into his own net shortly before the hour mark.

Valencia responded with increasing urgency. Thierry Correira nearly equalised with a near-post run, and substitute Lucas Beltran’s determined play could have earned a penalty, giving Los Che momentum in the closing stages.

Their persistence paid off in injury time when Duro’s late strike finally drew Valencia level. While the club has now failed to win in any of their last 43 LaLiga games after conceding first, this point will feel like a victory. Sevilla, meanwhile, remain relatively comfortable in mid-table but have won just once in their last seven league outings.
