BOV Amateur League II: Kalkara maintain perfect record as Marsaskala secure first win

Kalkara FC secured their sixth consecutive victory and maintained their 100% record in the BOV Amateur League II after a thrilling 3-2 win over second-placed Rabat Ajax. Meanwhile, Marsaskala registered their first win of the season in Friday’s action.

In a top-of-the-table clash, Kalkara survived a second-half scare from Rabat Ajax to take all three points.
Rabat started strong and took the lead in the 15th minute through Larens Vella after a pass from Victor Ifeanyi Mbata. Kalkara responded quickly, with Owen Gauci equalizing in the 24th minute with a close-range shot. Kalkara took the lead just before halftime when Gauci headed home a cross from Jean Claude Annati (44′).
Kalkara extended their lead immediately after the break, with Miguel Perez Jimenez stabbing home from close range. Rabat fought back, with substitute Jamie Camilleri making it 3-2 in the 64th minute. Despite late pressure and a disallowed goal in stoppage time, Kalkara held on for the vital win.
Kalkara now leads the league standings with 18 points.
St George’s 1-1 Msida St Joseph
Both St George’s and Msida St Joseph shared the spoils in a tight encounter as both sides looked to climb the table.
Msida took the lead against the run of play in the 15th minute with a fine effort by Taiwo Akindele. St George’s reacted in the second half and found an incredible equalizer in the 62nd minute when Kurt Zahra blasted a free-kick from 30 meters out, leaving the goalkeeper rooted as the ball sailed into the net.
The point leaves St George’s on 10 points and Msida on 9.

Marsaskala 2-1 Għargħur
Marsaskala registered their first win of the campaign at the Centenary Stadium. Leon El Yeferni put them ahead on 5 minutes. Aaron Alfredo Doda equalized for Għargħur on 37 minutes, but Federico Galea secured the three points for Marsaskala in the 72nd minute.
Siġġiewi 3-2 Santa Venera Lightnings
Siġġiewi secured a narrow victory over Santa Venera Lightnings. Juan Artiaga scored twice (6′, 62′), alongside a goal from Gabriel Calleja (33′). Andres Martinez scored a penalty for the Lightnings early in the second half, and Neil Farrugia reduced the deficit late on.
Ta’ Xbiex 1-1 Mdina Knights
Ta’ Xbiex and Mdina Knights shared the points at the Sirens Stadium. Ryan Sciberras gave Mdina the lead on 20 minutes before Andre Joe Cutajar equalized on 39 minutes.
Dingli Swallows 6-0 Għaxaq
Dingli Swallows produced a dominant performance, routing Għaxaq 6-0. Ronaldinho Daley and Jurgen Gerada scored in quick succession early on (18′, 19′). A late burst saw Dylan Attard score twice (79′, 80′), followed by goals from Juan Tenorio (82′) and Andie Sammut (86′).
