Mikel Arteta hailed his Arsenal side after a commanding 3–1 victory over Bayern Munich on Wednesday night, describing the German giants as “the best team in Europe.” The win keeps the Gunners comfortably atop their Champions League group with a perfect record of five wins from five.

Arsenal were the stronger team after the break and fully deserved the three points against the six-time European champions. Bayern briefly levelled late in the first half through 17-year-old Lennart Karl after Jurrien Timber had opened the scoring, but the visitors could not keep pace with Arsenal’s intensity.

Second-half substitute Noni Madueke restored the hosts’ advantage with his first goal for the club, before Gabriel Martinelli capitalised on a costly mistake from goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to seal the victory.

Bayern had arrived in London with an unblemished Champions League record, yet were outclassed as Arsenal tightened their grip on top spot. They now lead the group by three points over a cluster of teams including the Bundesliga leaders.

“I have to give huge credit to the players,” Arteta said afterward. “They produced an exceptional performance against, in my view, the best team in Europe. Individually we were outstanding in meeting all the challenges Bayern pose.”

Arteta praised the momentum his team has built, coming off a 4–1 win over Tottenham earlier in the week. “It’s another massive result,” he added. “But now it’s time to go home, enjoy a good dinner, and tomorrow we start preparing for Stamford Bridge.”

The Arsenal manager stressed the importance of securing last-16 qualification as soon as possible but warned that the campaign is still in its early stages. “The energy in the stadium, the quality we’re playing with — it’s incredible. But we have to sustain it.”

Arsenal’s strong bench made a difference once again, with both Madueke and Martinelli scoring after coming on. That depth has become increasingly vital as the squad continues to cope with injuries to key players such as Gabriel Magalhães, Kai Havertz, and Viktor Gyökeres.

“I look at the players coming into the game, and they’re making a real impact,” Arteta said. “At this level, that’s essential. We’ve improved not just in quality but in mentality, and that is making a huge difference.”

The team now shifts focus to Sunday’s Premier League clash against an in-form Chelsea side sitting second in the table — another test of Arsenal’s growing belief that this season could finally deliver major silverware.
