Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will be sidelined for the Champions League clash against Olympiacos because of a stomach virus, the Spanish club confirmed on Tuesday.

The Belgian shot-stopper “has been diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis,” Madrid stated ahead of Wednesday’s match in Athens.

Backup goalkeeper Andriy Lunin is expected to step in for the 15-time European champions, who currently sit seventh in their group.

The Spanish side has struggled for form recently, failing to secure a win in their last three matches across all competitions, including a 1-0 loss to Liverpool in their previous Champions League encounter.
