Burnley extended their winless run against Chelsea at Turf Moor to a joint-club record 10 Premier League home matches, falling to a 2–0 defeat that lifted the Blues into second place.

Despite Chelsea’s historically favourable record in this fixture, the early stages suggested Burnley might buck the trend. The hosts started brightly, carving out three early openings for Loum Tchaouna and Jaidon Anthony, only for each effort to be heroically blocked by Chelsea defenders at the last moment.

Chelsea struggled to impose themselves early on, lacking rhythm and conviction. By the half-hour mark, a blocked Pedro Neto attempt was the closest they had come to troubling the Burnley back line. Trevoh Chalobah eventually tested Martin Dúbravka, but the Burnley goalkeeper gathered his tame effort with ease.

Burnley vs Chelsea — Match Momentum

Enzo Maresca’s side finally sparked into life as the interval approached. Kyle Walker produced a superb last-ditch block to deny Jamie Gittens a near-certain goal, but Gittens made amends moments later. His floated cross to the back post found Neto drifting in unmarked, and the Portuguese forward guided a precise header into the net to give Chelsea the lead.

Chelsea emerged after the break looking sharper, though they continued to lack clear-cut creativity. Gittens nearly doubled the advantage when a deflected strike dropped just wide, and Neto went even closer on the hour mark, rattling the post with a powerful effort.

Burnley reminded Chelsea of their threat when Zian Flemming volleyed over from inside the area, prompting Scott Parker to respond with a triple substitution. However, the changes failed to alter the momentum, and the Clarets struggled to break through a disciplined Chelsea defence.

The visitors secured the points late on when Marc Guiu shrugged off a defender and squared for Enzo Fernández, who calmly swept the ball into an empty net to make it 2–0.

The defeat deepens Burnley’s relegation concerns, while for Chelsea, it marks an ideal confidence boost ahead of a demanding week featuring clashes with Barcelona and Arsenal.
