Jannik Sinner continued his dominance over Alex de Minaur on Saturday, defeating the Australian in straight sets to reach the ATP Finals championship match for the third consecutive year.

The Italian world number two broke late in the first set and pulled away in the second to secure a 7-5, 6-2 victory—his 13th win in as many encounters with De Minaur.

Sinner has yet to drop a service game en route to the final and will aim to defend his title on Sunday against either top-ranked Carlos Alcaraz or Felix Auger-Aliassime.

“It is the last event of the year and it is great to finish in this way,” Sinner said.
“It was a very tough match, especially at the beginning of the first set. I felt like he was serving really well, very precise. In the second set, I broke early and then my level rose. I tried to be a bit more aggressive and it worked well, but it was a tough match.”

Sinner has won his last 18 sets played in Turin, where he defeated Taylor Fritz in last year’s final. The 24-year-old Italian is on a 30-match winning streak on indoor hard courts and has not dropped a set at the ATP Finals since losing the 2023 final to Novak Djokovic.

“Making the final for three consecutive years means a lot to me,” Sinner added.
“It is a great atmosphere for me to play tennis and a wonderful place to close this beautiful season. Tomorrow, I will enjoy the moment and try my best to achieve the best possible result.”

De Minaur had early resistance, saving two break points in the opening game of the semi-final, but failed to convert any of the three opportunities he created in Sinner’s first service game. He resisted again when Sinner threatened breaks in the seventh and ninth games, but the second seed struck the decisive blow at 5-5 to take the first set.

Sinner surged to a 4-0 lead in the second set and sealed his ninth straight win at the tournament, becoming the youngest player since Lleyton Hewitt in 2004 to reach three finals at the season-ending event.

If he faces Alcaraz in the final, it will be their sixth meeting this season. Alcaraz leads the head-to-head 4-1, including victories in the French Open and US Open finals.
