Conference League Matchday 3 Stats: Samsunspor Keep Dream Start Alive

Matchday 3 of this season’s UEFA Conference League delivered another week of thrilling football. Here’s a key stat from each of last Thursday’s fixtures:
Mainz strike late, Samsunspor maintain perfect start

5 – Celje continued their fairy-tale run with a 2-1 victory over Legia Warsaw, completing five consecutive European wins and maintaining a +5 goal difference.
6 – AEK Larnaca were held 0-0 at home by Aberdeen. The Dons kept a clean sheet for the first time in consecutive European games in six years.
69 – AEK Athens drew 1-1 with Shamrock Rovers in Athens. Luka Jovic’s late penalty canceled out Graham Burke’s first-half spot-kick, with the two penalties coming 69 minutes apart.

3 – CS Universitatea Craiova recorded a 1-0 win at Rapid Wien, remaining unbeaten against Austrian teams in three European matches.
4 – Shkendija were denied back-to-back wins, drawing 1-1 with Jagiellonia Białystok after conceding in stoppage time.
0 – Drita beat Shelbourne 1-0 despite playing against ten men from the 16th minute. Shelbourne have now failed to score in three consecutive European group games.
28 – Rayo Vallecano completed a dramatic comeback from 2-0 down to defeat Lech Poznań 3-2, marking the 28th time a Spanish side has beaten the Poles in Europe.
10 – Lincoln Red Imps and Rijeka drew 1-1, with the Gibraltarian side missing a second-half penalty. Rijeka managed 10 shots, compared to 12 for the hosts.
14 – Lausanne-Sport and Omonia Nicosia shared a 1-1 draw, six minutes separating the goals. Omonia have yet to win an away group match in 14 attempts.
7 – Strasbourg triumphed 2-1 at BK Häcken, winning all three of their away fixtures this season and scoring seven goals in total.
29 – Dynamo Kyiv thrashed Zrinjski Mostar 6-0, with six different scorers ending the Bosnian side’s winless streak. Zrinjski have now failed to score in 29 European games, five this season alone.
65 – Crystal Palace bounced back from their previous defeat with a 3-1 win over AZ Alkmaar. Ismaila Sarr scored twice despite AZ dominating possession at 65%.
