Juventus’ wait for a first UEFA Champions League victory of the season goes on after they were held to a 1–1 draw by Sporting CP in an entertaining clash at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.

Sporting, buoyed by a six-game unbeaten run in all competitions, began on the front foot and struck early. Maximiliano Araujo gave the visitors a deserved lead in the 12th minute, curling a superb finish in off the post. Just moments later, Francisco Trincão almost doubled the advantage, rattling the crossbar with a fierce drive.

Stunned by the early setback, Juventus finally found their rhythm through Dusan Vlahović. The Serbian striker forced Rui Silva into two sharp saves in quick succession — first with a glancing header, then with a low shot that the Sporting goalkeeper turned around the post.

The hosts’ persistence paid off midway through the half when Vlahović got in front of his marker to poke home Khephren Thuram’s precise pass from close range, restoring parity.

Juventus nearly completed the turnaround before the interval as Francisco Conceição’s deflected effort rolled agonizingly wide, capping off a breathless first half.

After the break, the tempo dipped noticeably. Juventus dominated possession but lacked the cutting edge to convert their pressure into goals. Sporting, meanwhile, sat deep and absorbed the waves of attack with discipline and composure.

With 10 minutes remaining, Luciano Spalletti’s men had managed only two efforts on target after the interval, both from long range and easily dealt with by Silva.

In stoppage time, the Bianconeri almost snatched victory when Jonathan David’s late strike seemed destined for the top corner, only for Silva to produce a superb fingertip save.

The result leaves Juventus inside the top 24 of the Champions League league phase but still searching for a first win under Spalletti in Europe. Despite their frustrations, the Turin giants remain unbeaten in 11 home matches across all competitions.

For Sporting, the draw capped another impressive display, lifting them into the top 10 with just one defeat from their opening four group games.
