Brissett Sparks Cardinals in Stunning Monday Night Upset of Cowboys

Backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett threw two touchdown passes and rushed for another score as the Arizona Cardinals snapped a five-game losing streak with a 27-17 road victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night.
Filling in for starter Kyler Murray, Brissett capitalized on a sloppy Cowboys performance, handing Dallas their first home loss of the season and leaving them with a 3-5-1 record. The win marked Arizona’s third of the campaign.
“Just a complete team win,” Brissett said. “We knew it was going to be a dogfight coming in here. I thought we did a good job.”
Brissett finished 261 passing yards on 21 completions, while adding a rushing touchdown. The Cowboys’ errors proved costly: quarterback Dak Prescott was sacked five times, and Dallas lost four fumbles, setting the stage for Arizona’s victory at AT&T Stadium.
The Cowboys stumbled from the outset. On their opening drive, Prescott was sacked on a fourth-down attempt near the Cardinals’ goal line. Arizona took advantage, with Chad Ryland booting a 48-yard field goal for an early 3-0 lead.
After forcing a Dallas punt, the Cardinals extended their lead to 10-0 when Brissett connected with Marvin Harrison Jr. on a four-yard touchdown pass. A subsequent fumble by Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson handed possession back to Arizona, though Dallas later responded when Pat O’Donnell’s punt was blocked, allowing Marshawn Kneeland to score.
Arizona regained a 10-point cushion before halftime as Brissett led an 11-play, 74-yard drive, finishing it with a short rushing touchdown.
The Cardinals maintained momentum in the second half. Brissett found Trey McBride in the end zone to make it 24-7. A Cowboys drive stalled after another Prescott sack, forcing a field goal and cutting the deficit to 24-10. Ryland added a field goal to push the lead to 27-10.
Dallas managed to trim the margin to 10 points with a fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Ryan Flournoy, but that was as close as they would get. A fumble on their next possession and a late interception sealed the Cowboys’ defeat.
Arizona’s combination of opportunistic offense and Dallas’ uncharacteristic errors highlighted the Cardinals’ first triumph in six attempts this season, giving Brissett a signature victory as he continues to fill in for the injured Murray.
