MAFA: Senglea Gunners Share Top Spot After Narrow Win Over San Ġwann Pro Evolution Academy

Senglea Gunners climbed to joint first place in the MAFA First Division standings alongside champions Għaxaq Wolves after a 1-0 victory over San Ġwann Pro Evolution Academy. The only goal of the match came in the 11th minute from Lamin Jaiteh, who fired a first-time shot past the San Ġwann goalkeeper. The match was officiated by Gjorgji Bitri.

Valletta St Paul’s recorded their first win of the season, defeating San Ġiljan Saints 3-1. The Citizens, guided by Kris Bugeja, benefited from a double from new Brazilian signing Guillherme Da Lima Mendes, with Luke Asanidze adding a third. Jamie Bowlby Whiting scored for the Saints. The referee was Thomas Debono.

In the Second Division, the strong start of Swieqi United AFC and Attard Edex Kings continued as both teams maintained top positions. Swieqi dominated Birżebbuġa St Peter’s AFC, winning 6-0. Suhail Mantrammal scored twice, while Amri Mohamed Taher, Andrade da Silva, Liete Bezerra, Pedro Henrique, and Vitor Silva Dias also found the net. Sillah Al Hasana officiated the match.

Attard Edex Kings secured a 3-2 win over Mqabba Albions in a tightly contested game. Miguel Grima opened the scoring for Mqabba after three minutes, but an own goal from Lean Leckey levelled it for Attard. Before halftime, Roberty Felix put Attard ahead, and Jean Alesi Spiteri briefly equalised before Felix scored again to seal a personal double and the win. The referee was Thomas Debono.

Ħamrun Sporting earned a 1-0 victory over Naxxar Victorians thanks to a strike from Larry Toni Gorgi. This win moves the Red/Blacks up to four points, while Naxxar are still searching for their first points of the season. The referee was JP Sammut.
