Neptunes and San Ġiljan Off to Winning Starts in Enemed Cup Opener

The 2025/26 Enemed Cup got underway in emphatic fashion on Friday evening at the National Pool Complex, with Neptunes Best Gyms Malta and San Ġiljan MAA Daikin both recording convincing victories in their opening fixtures.
In the first match of the new campaign, Neptunes showed their class as they cruised to an 18–8 win over Marsaskala Optima Projects. The Reds dominated from start to finish, combining tight defence with swift counterattacks to secure their first three points of the competition. Their offensive sharpness and superior depth proved decisive as they quickly built a commanding lead that Marsaskala struggled to reduce.
Later in the evening, defending champions San Ġiljan sent a strong message of intent with a 22–7 triumph over Exiles Welbee’s. The Saints were relentless in front of goal, producing a powerful attacking display that highlighted their trademark pace and precision. San Ġiljan’s experienced core, supported by an energetic bench, ensured total control throughout the encounter.
Both Neptunes and San Ġiljan now move to the top of the Enemed Cup standings, setting the tone for what promises to be another exciting domestic waterpolo season.
The next round of matches will continue at the National Pool Complex as teams aim to build early momentum in this year’s competition.
