Thomas Tuchel appeared in good spirits after receiving some playful stick from England supporters during Tuesday’s match at Wembley.

The England manager had criticised fans the previous week, accusing them of lacking enthusiasm during a routine 3–0 friendly win over Wales. But this time, the atmosphere was markedly different as England secured their place at next year’s World Cup.

The supporters made their feelings clear, chanting “Are we loud enough for you?” in a cheeky response to the former Chelsea boss’s earlier comments.

“I got a bit of stick today in the first half, so fair enough,” Tuchel admitted afterwards. “I take it in good humour, with a good sense of humour. I accept it. They had a reason today after my last comments, and I guess that’s fair enough.”

Tuchel said he appreciated the light-hearted banter from the stands. “I got a bit of stick and I found it quite creative. It made me smile, and this is how it has to be. It’s British humour, and I can surely take it. No harm done.”

He also praised the supporters for their backing as England celebrated qualification. “The support today was brilliant, and we’re very sure the support in America will be absolutely brilliant too. We need it.”
