An action-packed weekend in the GFA BOV Gozo Football League saw important victories for Kercem Ajax, Qala Saints, and SK Victoria Wanderers, as Matchday 5 continued to shape the standings in both divisions.

Kercem Ajax edge Nadur Youngsters in intense clash

Kercem Ajax registered a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Nadur Youngsters at the Gozo Stadium on Friday evening, in a match that featured plenty of drama and a red card inside the opening minutes.

Nadur’s Luciano Nahuel Gutierrez was sent off in the 12th minute, leaving the Youngsters with ten men. Just a minute later, Natal Cidcley Saveriano (Nenem) converted from the penalty spot to put Kercem ahead.

Kercem doubled their lead on the half-hour mark through Isias Moura Vera Cruz De Suza, who finished clinically after a swift counterattack.

Despite being a man down, Nadur fought back and reduced the deficit in the 79th minute with a goal from Diego Fernando Rodriguez Angulo, but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.

Qala Saints overcome Ghajnsielem in early decider

Qala Saints also claimed three crucial points after defeating Ghajnsielem 2–0 on Friday night.

Andre Gabriel Castro Martins proved to be the hero, scoring twice in the opening 22 minutes. Qala, however, were reduced to ten men after Joseph Zammit saw red in the 29th minute.

Right before half-time, Gilberto Martins Leite Carrara had the chance to extend the lead from the penalty spot, but his effort was saved, keeping Ghajnsielem in the match. Despite the pressure, Qala held firm to secure the victory.

Caique Souza hat-trick powers SK Victoria Wanderers

In Sunday’s 2nd Division fixture, SK Victoria Wanderers produced a dominant display, defeating Xaghra United 5–0 at the Gozo Stadium.

Matthias Cordina opened the scoring after just three minutes, and Sam Harland doubled the lead before the break. In the second half, it was the Caique Silvio Souza Da Silva show, as the Brazilian forward struck a hat-trick — including a 57th-minute penalty — to seal a commanding victory for the Wanderers.
