Luke Littler and Luke Humphries produced a brilliant display to guide England to their sixth World Cup of Darts title, defeating the Netherlands 10-5 in Frankfurt.

The top-seeded English pair overcame Wales and Scotland earlier on Sunday to book a high-profile final against second seeds Michael van Gerwen and Gian van Veen.

Questions had been raised about the duo’s chemistry after their surprise last-16 exit at last year’s tournament, but they answered in style, averaging 104.77 as they powered their way to the trophy.

“I’m absolutely delighted. That’s the best we’ve played all tournament,” Littler told Sky Sports.

“That’s what we needed to do. We can’t be doing the rest.

We’ve had tough challenges over the past two days, and this was our best performance because we needed to deliver it.”

The two sides traded early legs before England struck first, with Luke Littler hitting double 10 after Michael van Gerwen missed tops, giving the English pair an early break.

That advantage quickly shifted the momentum as England raced into a 6-2 lead, before Gian van Veen ended the run with a composed 14-dart leg to steady the Dutch challenge.

From there, both teams held their throws as the match tightened, but Luke Humphries eventually sealed the victory in style, finishing a 12-darter on double 20 to spark England’s celebrations.

England had reached the final after a dramatic 8-7 win over Wales in the quarter-finals, followed by a convincing 8-3 victory against Scotland in the semi-finals.

The Netherlands booked their place in the showpiece with an 8-4 win over hosts Germany and an 8-2 semi-final triumph over Northern Ireland.
