Young soccer players got to play on Malta’s biggest stage on Sunday morning. Children from 21 local soccer schools took over the National Stadium for the annual Football Fun Festival. The special event was hosted by the Malta FA and the Youth FA.

Big Games on a Big Field

The kids played a series of fun, 20-minute matches. They got to run on the exact same grass used by the Malta National Team. Huge crowds of families filled the stands to cheer, wave, and make the morning feel like a major league game.

The May sun was very hot, but a special water buggy from the Water Services Corporation kept the kids cool. The players stayed hydrated and full of energy to show off their best skills all morning long.

Celebrating the Future of Soccer

At the end of the day, every single school received a special trophy. Malta FA Senior Vice President Dr Matthew Paris and Youth FA General Secretary Stephanie Rocco handed out the awards.

Both leaders said that letting kids play at the big stadium is a great way to help them love the sport. They plan to keep hosting this festival to give young players great memories and help grassroots soccer grow in Malta.
