Liverpool have reportedly taken initial steps to sign Yan Diomande but face strong competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the winger’s signature.

The Anfield hierarchy are said to be aiming to secure a deal before the start of the World Cup, although discussions are still at an early stage with the player’s representatives, while interest from several top European clubs continues to grow around one of the continent’s most highly rated young forwards.

PSG are currently regarded as Liverpool’s main challengers for the 19-year-old, with Bayern Munich also understood to have shown interest in recent weeks.

RB Leipzig are believed to prefer keeping Diomande for at least another season, but could be tempted to listen to offers in the region of €100 million for the Ivory Coast international, who remains under contract until 2030.

Liverpool’s pursuit has intensified following the departure of Mohamed Salah, as the club looks to inject more pace and unpredictability into its wide attacking options ahead of next season.

Sources suggest Diomande is highly valued within Liverpool’s recruitment structure, with staff identifying him as one of the most exciting attacking prospects available due to his age, versatility, and long-term potential.

The club’s scouting team have tracked his development throughout the campaign and are confident he could adapt quickly to Premier League football.

Diomande enjoyed a standout season in Germany, contributing 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions after joining from Leganés last year.

Internally, he is seen at Anfield as a strong fit for Liverpool’s attacking system, thanks to his pace, dribbling ability, and comfort operating on either flank.

PSG remain firmly in contention, however, and continue to monitor the situation as they evaluate possible changes to their forward line this summer.

Liverpool are also considering alternative wide options, with sources linking them to Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, PSG’s Bradley Barcola, West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen—who could become available following relegation—and Tottenham Hotspur’s Mohammed Kudus.
